Are comics deep?

Best Year Ever

I didn’t work this drawing very long, but it’s got me wondering about the ability of a comic to be a statement of emotion. The isolation and pointlessness feel overwhelming and sad here, but the idea of a hamster on a treadmill, along with the cuteness factor still bring me a smile.

Though 2020 is overwhelmingly heavy on the bitter, the indomitable human spirit can add a tiny bit of sweet to almost anything.
