How To Find The Right Caption
Just ask the trolls
Yesterday, I was trying to find the right caption for this comic drawing. I sometimes work like this. I’ll have a caption in mind, but then start to push to see if I can improve it. I asked my family, and posted this one to the Wild West of Reddit.
One person told me to fuck off. Another asked what this horseshit was. And another dressed me down with an actual argument about equating science with Santa. I began to rethink my choice. I’m pro vax and didn’t mean to make a controversial political statement. I saw this as a positive affirmation of hope with a measure of skepticism born form the runaway profit drives of big pharma as spearheaded by the criminal-in-chief. But mostly, I was trying to go upbeat.
Today I posted this other version I had considered. I titled it:
Christmas Present.
It’s maybe not as deep, but serves this year’s mashup of Christmas and the vaccine, and adds my hope for the future of the pandemic along with a optional hint of sarcasm due to the absurdity of the set up. It’s drawing less troll fire (phew), and…
