If God does not exist, people would invent God to make society work.

I'm pretty sure this is exactly what happened.

But I'm not bashing any religion. Just expressing the lack of sense I find in it.

I also disagree that we need a god to behave. Lots of people are model citizens with no god at all, and many with one are the worst. There is just no evidence to that that I know of.
